Treatment of Asperger's Syndrome |
There
has been an alarming rise in the incidence of Asperger's and PDD in
recent years. Today, most treatment choices rely entirely on dietary
restrictions, de-tox & chelation strategies, or supplementation.
Despite the wonderful benefits offered by these protocols, they come
with the burden of a great deal of maintenance - often for life. There
are also some children who don't respond particularly well to these
approaches.
Dr. Shannon will present a video case of Asperger's Syndrome. The
case will be used to encourage active participation with students.
The following are learning objectives for this grand rounds presentation:
Group participation facilitating case analysis
Materia medica differential
Discussion of the materia medica of the curative medicine
Follow-ups videos of the patient
The results of the treatment will be discussed
The case will be used to demonstrate realistic expectations of using
homeopathy with Asperger's Syndrome. In addition, the differential
between Asperger's and Autism will be discussed in brief. Questions
and answers will be encouraged. |
| The talk is open to health care students
and providers only. |

| Autism
Spectrum Disorders; Considering Homeopathy |
There
has been an alarming rise in the incidence of Autistic Spectrum Disorders
(ASD - Autism, Asperger's & PDD) in recent years. Today, most
treatment choices rely entirely on dietary restrictions, de-tox &
chelation strategies, or supplementation. Despite the wonderful benefits
offered by these protocols, they come with the burden of a great deal
of maintenance - often for life. There are also some patients who
don't respond particularly well to these approaches.
Every parent knows that there are many differences between ASD children.
Homeopathy is unique in that it uses precisely prescribed medicines
aimed at the specific problems of each patient. This approach yields
benefits not often seen with typical treatments. One benefit is that
results become self-sustaining and therefore require little maintenance
(dietary restrictions, supplements, etc.).
Dr. Shannon will show one or two videos of successful treatments with
homeopathy. Participants will be able to see for themselves changes
from homeopathic treatment. The videos will show children along with
parents comments before and after treatment. Video is a wonderful
medium to illustrate the profound potential of homeopathy in healing
ASD. Some parents may want to read the book "Impossible Cure"
by Amy Lansky (available at Amazon.com) before attending. The author's
son was cured of autism with homeopathy. |

| Diabetes
Treatment; Considering Homeopathy |
Dr.
Shannon will show how blood sugar levels can be reduced WITHOUT exclusive
attention to diet and exercise. While diet and exercise are often
very important or essential in diabetes treatment, there are still
many patients for whom these approaches either are not realistically
sustainable, or simply don't yield enough benefits.
By using precisely selected homeopathic remedies, it will be shown
that blood sugar levels can be markedly reduced. This occurs by two
mechanisms: reduction in carbohydrate (bread, sweets, pasta, etc)
cravings as well as reduction in glucose resistance. In addition,
the homeopathic treatment will also address the common problems associated
with diabetes: retinopathy, neuropathy (numbness & tingling in
extremities), etc.
This is a very different approach to diabetes not often discussed.
Dr. Shannon will present a case history of a patient who has greatly
benefited with homeopathy as an example. The talk will be informal
with plenty of time for questions and answers. |

| Anxiety
and Depression; Considering Homeopathy |
Many
people today are suffering from Depression, Anxiety & Mood disorders.
Prozac, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Xanax and other psychotropic drugs are
often the main treatment offered. Often people would prefer to use
effective natural treatments to help with these problems.
Homeopathy is an excellent alternative. Dr. Shannon will describe
in detail how homeopathy can help. In addition, the process using
homeopathy to safely taper off of conventional medications will be
discussed. The talk will be informal with questions and answers. |

and other psychotropic drugs are being dispensed to children at an
alarming rate for attention and behavioral problems. Homeopathic medicine
offers a safe and effective alternative. Though the talk is geared
towards children, the lecture is also appropriate for adults.
Dr. Shannon will explain the process of homeopathic treatment and
give you a realistic idea of its benefits. In addition, the talk will
discuss using homeopathy to safely taper off of conventional drugs.
The talk will be informal with questions and answers. |

| Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder; Considering Homeopathy |
Post
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is increasingly common in our society.
Many think of PTSD exclusively related to combat trauma, but there
are many traumas that can cause PTSD. These traumas include: Car accidents,
rape, sexual abuse, military combat, torture, incest, or any serious
accidents. In short, many situations where a person feels violated,
shocked, or where violence is used can lead to this condition.
During trauma or shocking circumstances, our body and mind go into
a survival response. In short, our body-mind does its best to help
us survive the trauma. The problem comes after the trauma is over,
and our system is still frozen in that moment. That is when the insomnia
starts - for the victim of incest, or chronic migraines for the whiplash
victim.
Often PTSD symptoms can last for many years or even decades. Psychological
symptoms include: depression, anxiety, addictions (to self medicate),
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ADHD, Rages, etc. Physical symptoms
include: chronic headaches, neurological spasms, chronic fatigue,
chronic bladder or rectal complaints, etc. The list is extensive because
the trauma can precipitate far reaching and complex health problems.
There is also a phenomenon called hyper-vigilance related to PTSD.
This is when the body-mind is ever on guard to protect the person
from the trauma repeating itself. This can be seen in people who have
repeating anxiety attacks, repeating fears that someone will break
in, hyper sensitivity to noises, etc.
The talk will cover the use of homeopathic medicine in treating PTSD.
Homeopathy is an effective method of helping the body-mind unlock
itself from the original trauma and move on. The talk will be informal
and utilize one or two case histories of PTSD. Questions and answers
are also encouraged. The talk will last approximately 2 hours.
